Jacen looked out at the sunrise. The river flowed swiftly down past the temple and into the distance, sparkling into his eyes. A gently breeze came up and blew his light brown bangs into his vision. He didn't notice a single detail, his thoughts dwelt on his younger brother. The look that Anakin had given him haunted him ... it had been one of control, genuine concern, sincere sorrow, unexpected peace and ultimate sacrifice. Just days ago, Tahiri Veila had sacrificed herself to guaranteee safe passage for the remnants of the Myrkr team. She had had plenty of time to eject, but had chose not to. This is my sacrifice, she had said. Life isn't worth living without someone to love you. She had been right. Jacen sighed and closed his eyes sorrowfully.
He felt a warm, comforting hand touch his shoulder softly. Jacen slipped one of his hands over hers and held it. "You feel guilty, friend Jacen?" He nodded at her question. "Well, you should not be. There is no reason for you to feel that way. You did your duty to your fullest extent, so did Anakin."
Jacen looked at Tenel Ka. "But he still died. And no matter how much we fought or disagreed, I still loved him. I could have saved him, I know I could have."
"Anakin's death was the will of the Force, as was Tahiri's," Tenel Ka replied. "Think of how happy they are right now." she said with a smile.
"Happy?" He asked. "How could they be happy? They're dead."
"They are together," she replied softly. Jacen took the opportunity (<- spelling isn't my strong point, folks) to survey his comforter. Tenel Ka's warrior braids had come slightly undone in the night and her beautiful features were brightened with the hope of her statement. The wind came up again and whisked her red-gold hair around her face. He took her hands and held them to his chest.
"Now what?" He asked.
She furrowed her brow. "I do not understand."
"What do we do now?"
"We continue living our lives. The longer you live, the wiser you get ... or so they say," Tenel Ka replied. "Eventually, the guilt that should not be there will fade away, Jacen." The look Jacen was giving her made her nervous.
"Life isn't worth living without someone to love," Jacen whispered to her.
Don't know where you are
Wish I could just be near you
I would sail oceans to get a
glimpse of how you feel.
You're all the things I'm looking
for, everything and so much more.
What I think, you are just perfect
Could it be, that I am worth it.
You and me, my life would change
in a second. In a second...
He leaned closer and kissed her lips tenderly. Tenel Ka jumped back, smiling. "My heart just skipped!"
"Yeah, that happens when you kiss someone you like. You're okay?"
"Yes, it just tickled," she laughed. Jacen wrapped his arms around her waist and pressed his lips to hers once more. This time, Tenel Ka closed her eyes and enjoyed the strange feeling of being in Jacen Solo's arms. "What was that for?" she asked innocently once they had broken the kiss.
He smiled. I wanted to know if ..."
"If ... what?"
"... If I love you."
"D-do you love me?" Tenel Ka asked. She understood what he was trying to do.
"Yes," he answered seriously, gazing into her eyes unwaveringly. "I love you deeply ... unconditionally," Jacen caressed her cheek and knelt before her. "Does the one I love love me in return? Enough to ... marry me?"
Tenel Ka knelt gracefully beside him. She reached into her robes and pulled out a locket. She fastened it around Jacen's neck. He looked at it, it was the symbol of a dove. "My mother gave that to my father when they were first married. When I was born, it was handed down to me, to give to the man I love," she said. "Yes, Jacen, I will marry you. I love you, as I know you love me."
Jacen smiled broadly and pulled Tenel Ka into his arms. They shared a lingering, tender kiss. Tenel Ka giggled. "What?" Her finac`e asked.
"Every time I'm near you, my stomach feels like a herd of banthas are stampeeding throughout it. But when I kiss you, nothing matters. My stomach stops fluttering and my brain turns to mush... only my heart keeps pounding wildly," she stated bluntly.
Jacen grinned. "And here I thought it was just me." He leaned closer and nuzzled her neck lovingly. He then relzied that Tenel Ka had become the center of his universe. His guilts about his brother had been banished, replaced by a feeling that a great weight had been lifted from his shoulders. Jacen knew that in the end, everything would end up right. And in the end, she was the only thing that mattered to him. As he continued to look fondly at his finac`e, Jacen felt hope re-enter his life. Life was now worth living.
"Jacen?"
"Yes, beautiful?"
"You've become the center of my universe also," she whispered.
"How did ...?"
"You were thinking aloud," Tenel Ka laughed and kissed his cheek. "I love you, Jacen."
"I love you more, princess,"
"I love you most,"
"Eh? Well ... I love you mostest," Jacen laughed loudly and swung her around.
-The Wedding Night-
Tenel Ka snuggled up against her husband. Jacen kissed her forehead and wrapped his arms around her tenderly. She rested her head underneath his chin. "Good night, Jacen." she murmured.
"Good night, my love," he whispered back. "My princess ... my hope,"
My life.
"I love you."

*wipes sweat from face* Well, how was it? Not too much kissing I hope ... OK, maybe I made them say 'I love you' too many times, but STILL ...
