Keywords: uhhh... Summary: Mara Jade is the Assassin of the Night. Her targets are victim to cruel murder when they least expect it. The only mercy she gives is the ability to have three last words. Coruscant lives in terror of becoming the next victim. So, with fear and unjustice, Mara Jade; the Assassin of the Night, rules the planet, under the training of her Sith Master, Darth Vader. Notes: I was trying to fight off plot bunnies one day, when this one bit me. I've only done two Mara Jade 'fics, so please be nice! Disclaimer: *muttering* I do not own Star Wars. "] A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...STAR WARS: Assassin of the Night Written by Courtney_Solo[/link] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Chapter 1 Mara Jade - 10 B.B.Y.I don't mean to brag. But why does Palpatine slap me everytime I tell him I tell him I have ... "taken care of" another stupid Rebel? He should be HAPPY to hear that Vader's training of me is paying off. However, everytime I come home. "Master, I have killed two more today."
"Good," *slap* "Go get some rest." He could at least smile (or not, spare us the sight. Eww...), or laugh (um, on second thought...) or pat me on the back. Why a slap? I'll show him. Tomorrow, I'll come home, and I won't let him slap me.
I won't. Mara Jade - 10 B.B.Y.Today, I came home and ducked. Palpatine didn't get mad, or try to slap me again. He just laughed and said that I was finally ready. For what, I wonder? My training was intensified. I'm starting to forget things; memories; of my old life. Of my mother, Sab'e, of my father ... whose name I know not. I do know; however, that I am strong in the Force. Vader and Palpatine have both told me so. Darth Vader first realized it when he was training me, a year ago. I asked him why he felt sad, and he answered me coldly that I mistook frustration at my attention skills for sadness. But I knew he was sad! Vader realized that I could sense his feelings, and told Palpatine immediately. I switched from training to be a common Imperial Guard, to trainging to become an assassin; the Emperor's Hand. I'll be the only one, and I'll get whatever I ask for. I'm 10 now, so by the time I'm 18, Palpatine promised me the planet Coruscant. People will HAVE to do what I say, or else ... I'll kill them. The slightest resistance, and I'll kill them as mercilessly as I kill the Rebels. I'll be a Dark Queen.
10 year old, Mara Jade, walked down the halls to the library, where her tutor, Sly Moore, awaited her. "Why am I here, again, Moore?" She sauntered in. "To learn everything your small, little pate can store," Sly said coldly. Mara rolled her eyes. "And you're sure my brain won't explode?" Sly smiled. "There's only one way to find out." "Yeah, go test it on Vader," Mara stated. Sly caught the joke. "Very funny, Jade. Just for that, you lose desert." "What!?" "Do you want to lose dinner as well?" "Noooo...." Mara pouted. "If you are to become the Dark Queen of Coruscant, you must study," Sly said sardonically. Mara's mouth dropped open. "Yes, Mara, I know your desire. I know everything." Mara Jade - 10 B.B.Y.It's nearly been six months since I've last written, and much has happened. But it can be summarized: I have been given the rule of half of Coruscant. It won't be long now. I have 7 years, then, I shall become the Dark Queen of Coruscant. And eventually, the Galaxy.
I will show everyone who's ever doubted me. I shall become the darkest, deadliest assassin that there ever was, or ever shall be.
I will even become skilled enough to defeat a Jedi Grand Master, if there are any left...

Chapter 2 Mara entered the gym and walked to where Vader was standing. "Is this an unscheduled lesson?" "No, it's your first important mission, Jade," Vader breathed. "You shall assassinate the Jedi youngling names Siri Olin. She is the daughter of an ex-Jedi names Ferus Olin." "Where is she? Is she on Coruscant?" Vader smiled behind his mask. "This is your misson, Mara. You only have her name and her father's. Use your knowledge of the Force and skills to track her down and annihilate her. Use whatever means you wish." Mara smiled evilly. "Can I kill the father?" "No," Vader said sharply. "He's mine." "What's my payement?" "I shall train you everything I know-" "Not good enough-" "And I shall tell you your father's name." Mara set her jaw. "Very well. It shall be done." Vader emitted an evil chuckle. "Good."
Mara sat inside the library, staring at the holoscreen; deep in thought. "Having trouble?" Sly Moore asked dryly. "No, in fact, I was waiting for you," Mara turned towards her tutor. "You once told me you knew everything important there was to know. Prove it." "How shall I, young one?" Moore asked the 11 year old. "What can you tell me about a certain Jedi-in-training, Siri Olin?" Sly smiled. "She is the daughter of ex-Jedi Ferus Olin, and Tara Narsil, who is a senator of little importance." "Tara Narsil, where is she from?" "Polis Massa, young one," Moore scowled. "I don't see how that will help you find Siri." "There are no records anywhere of Siri of Ferus, but, there might be some of Tara Narsil," Mara muttered. "Do you think she'd be with her mother?" "Siri is barely five years old, and Ferus is a Jedi. It'd be dangerous to stay with him." "Yeah, that's why I asked," Mara stated dryly. "Okay, so ... Tara Narsil is the senator or Borleias. The capital of Borleias is Germois(*) ... but, no, who would be stupid enough to hide their child in the capital?" Mara sat back and stroked her chin. "But where on Borleias is the best place to train a Jedi? The gettos. Siri Olin is in Carru, Borleias," Jade got up and motioned to a droid. "Get my ship ready. Set coordinates for Carru, Borleias." Sly Moore smiled as Mara walked away, and Vader came up behind her. "Truly wonderful, the mind of a child is," she whispered. "Jade is on the right path?" "Yes," Moore nodded slowly. "She will lead you to your next victim." "There will be a great reward if she succeeds this mission," Darth Vader breathed. "A very great asset to the Empire will be born."
The Jade's Fire landed quietly at a docking bay in the dead of night. The perfect atmosphere for a murder. Mara stepped out of her ship with graceful ease. "ID, please," a security guard approached her warily. "Why, you're just a kid." Mara's eyes narrowed, and she extended her hand. The guard's neck cracked and broke; his head hung in shock. His windpipe exploded and he sank to the ground. She bent next to him. "I am not a child." Mara crouched on the roof of Tara Narsil's house, using the Force to hear what was going on inside. "Ferus, honey, it's time to eat," she heard a woman say. Tara.
"I'll be right there, Tara. I just ... I just have a bad feeling," a man answered. Ferus.
"Mommy! I left my dolly outside, can I go get it?" a girl squealed. Siri Olin; the doomed one.
"Well ... no, honey. Let your father get it,"
"No, it's alright, Tara, let her get her doll,"
"Thanks, Daddy! I'll be right back!" Siri came running out of the house. "Dolly? Where are you?" Mara started crawling towards Siri using the Force; clinging to the wall the way a spider stalks its prey. Now, how shall I kill this one? Suddenly, Mara remembered something Vader had said, "Leave no evidence of the Empire." Mara spotted a 4-inch pocketknife sitting on one of the run-down porches. She called it to her hand and opened it. It had just been sharpened. "This is all too easy..."

Mara looked back to Tara and Ferus. They were talking, paying no attention to their daughter. She smiled evilly, then leapt down behind the little girl, and held the knife right behind the girl's back. "Hey, Siri?" She said sweetly. The girl turned around. "Any last words?"
"Have you seen my dolly?" Siri asked; then the blade peirced her, and she fell. Mara called the girl's doll to her hand and leapt up to the highest balcony. She reached out with the Force and squeezed. Siri cried out in pain, then was silent ... forevermore.
"Siri!!!" Ferus ran out to his daughter. "NO!!!!" He must have sensed her death. His wife ran out behind him, he caught her and turned her around, holding her tightly.
"Ferus, what's wrong? Is Siri alright?"
"S-she's dead," he whispered. Mara smiled and thre down Siri's doll. It hit Ferus's back. He looked in the direction of the throw, but there was no one. Tara screamed and ran to her daughter. Ferus followed and fell to his knees; sobbing. "Siri..."
Darth Vader was waiting for Mara when she came back to her ship. "I should've known you were spying on me, Vader," she muttered. "No matter, your command has been fulfilled."
Vader chuckled. "You have done well. Killing a five-year-old is extremely challenging."
"Considering I only had her name, I think I did pretty darn well,"
"Did you leave any sign?"
"No, my lord," Mara stated, removing her mask.
"What weapon did you kill her with?"
"A pocket-knife, borrowed from one of their neighbors," she said, crossing her arms. "Anything else?"
"Where is the father?"
"Weeping over his daughter, I believe,"
"This is what happens when one chooses to love," Vader droned. "Attachment is a dangerous thing. You have done well, Mara Jade. You shall be rewarded."
"Vader ... our bargain," she tapped her foot impatiently. "My father's name, please."
"Have you ever heard of the Jedi Master General Obi-Wan Kenobi?"
"No, my lord."
"Find him; he will tell you your father's name," Darth Vader exhaled. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a Jedi to exterminate."
"Hey, Vader, as a personal favor, could you kill the wife, too? Her wailing gave me a headache," Mara rubbed her forehead.
"As you wish, Assassin of the Night."
Mara Jade - 9 B.B.Y.
Happy New Years ... bah humbug. I have earned the title 'Assassin of the Night'. I really couldn't care less. Superiors give orders; I don't come home until they've been obeyed. There's nothing miraculous about that. Well, considering the laziness of staff these days, maybe it is. I still don't rule Coruscant. I'm ready to turn 18; I'm ready to become the Dark Queen. But, I have 7 more years. Frankly, the rule of half of Coruscant is dull. I've grown tired of just killing Jedi and Rebels; I want to kill whoever gets in my way. Too bad, they're protected by the law. When I'm Queen, I shall change that. I am on my way to Tatooine, where I suspect an old Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, to be hiding. Once he tells me who my father is, I shall kill him. Then I shall tell Vader, and maybe ... ... maybe I'll earn the rule of Coruscant early.
Mara touched down in front of a circular looking home. There were no droids, no holoscreens, no sliding doors. "What a dump!" She hopped out of the cockpit and walked down the ramp. A man with a grey beard and sandy brown/grey hair came out of the house.
"Can I help you?"
"Yes, you can," Mara stated firmly. "Are you Obi-Wan Kenobi?"
The man hesitated. "I am Ben Kenobi. Obi-Wan is ... a close friend. A brother."
"I see. Is he nearby?"
Ben shook his head. "Not on Tatooine. We lost touch after the war. Who, might I ask, are you?"
"I am the Assassin of the Night; the Emperor's Hand; and chief apprentice of Darth Vader," Mara said proudly.
Ben paled. "You seem familiar. Like someone I knew once. What is your real name?"
She straightened. "My name is Mara Jade."
"M-Mara?"
"You know me?"
"Of course, I do. Mara ... I am your uncle."

Mara smiled. "At least we are getting somewhere."
"Would you like to come inside?" Ben asked hopefully.
"I think I shall," Mara entered the house. "Did you know my mother?"
"Indeed, I did," Ben Kenobi poured a blue drink into a cup. "Jawa juice?" Mara nodded. "Your mother's name was Sab'e. She and your father had to marry secretly, for he was a Jedi."
"Darth Vader told me that Obi-Wan Kenobi would tell me my father's name. So, I tracked him down, and his trail led me here. I am never wrong. You are lying when you say Obi-Wan is your brother. You are Obi-Wan Kenobi, former Jedi Master and General. You are my father."
Obi-Wan smiled. "I see there is no fooling you, my daughter."
"I have learned from the best,"
"Then how come they could not find me?" Obi-Wan laughed. "No, Mara, you are different. You are a Jedi in a way, whether you wish it or not. Why did you want to find me?"
"Vader wants to find you, too," Mara injected, avoiding the question.
"I'm sure he does..." Obi-Wan muttered.
"He told me to tell him where you are, once I'd found you."
"He wants to kill me,"
"Why? What did you ever do to him?"
"I am a Jedi. He is exterminating all that is left of us. Therefore, I must die," Obi-Wan smiled. "Well, you must do as you must."
"I shall not tell him of your location," Mara decided. Vader could kill all the other Jedi that he wanted, but not her father. She still had questions that needed answering.
Obi-Wan smiled again. "So, what do you plan to be when you grow up?"
"I am grown up."
"Very well," Obi-Wan nearly laughed. "What do you plan to be? A Jedi, like me?"
Mara shook her head. "If I wanted to be a Jedi, I wouldn't be killing off their remnants," Obi-Wan paled. "Don't worry, old man, you're an acception."
"M-Mara, what you're doing is wrong."
She scowled. "If you wanted me to grow up like you, you shouldn't have given me up for adoption. I was fooled into believing a strange family were my parents. They gave me willingly to Palpatine. Don't be fooled, I know what an insane man he is. But he established a ... hunger in me, father. I want to be an assassin. I want to do his will. I am bent in obedience before the evil one, and I cannot escape, not yet."
Obi-Wan stood. "Mara, you're training to be a Sith!"
She crossed her arms. "In case you haven't noticed, the Dark Side pays really well. So, a few people get hurt in the process. It ends up well for me in the end, doesn't it?"
"Mara-"
"Hey, Ben!" A cheery voice called. A handsome blonde-haired, blue-eyed kid called. The 13 year old walked in. "Whoa, who's this?"
"This is my ... daughter, Mara Jade," Obi-Wan sighed. I could be endangering the boy by just telling him her name. Mara shook Luke's hand. "Mara, this is Luke."
"It's nice to meet you, Luke...?"
"Skywalker. Luke Skywalker," Luke grinned.
"Skywalker?" Mara turned to confront her father. "Now I know why you're here! You're here because of Anakin Skwyalker's son! Does he know the truth about his father, huh? Or are you just keeping the truth from him 'for his protection'? Does he know what happened truthfully?"
"Yes, he does," Obi-Wan lied.
"My father was killed by Darth vader," Luke said sorrowfully. What a farmboy.
"Oh, really?" Mara turned to Obi-Wan. "I'm leaving, but I'll be back."
"Nice to meet you, Mara," Luke said to Darth Vader's apprentice. "Make sure you give us a warning next time you come."
"Oh, don't worry," Mara smiled mischievously. "Just look to the skies when you least expect it."
"There will come a time when you will have to choose between good or evil," Obi-Wan said softly. "I'm sure you will make the right choice."
Mara shook her head. She boarded the Jade's Fire gracefully. "Crazy old man."
Darth Vader commed Mara immediately. "Did you find him?" She sighed. Should she betray her own father for the will of a demented cyborg? There will come a time when you will have to choose between good or evil.
She sighed again. "No, my lord," Mara stated. "I did not find who I thought I would find."
"Who did you find?"
"I found no one, but I got answers," Mara set her jaw. "We will discuss this when I return."
"Your defeat is regrettable, Jade. You could have been the Queen of Coruscant - seven years early," Darth Vader said. Mara pounded a sheet of metal, and it bent like flexiplast. That is the last time I choose good over my way.
"You knew, Vader," Mara stalked up to her Sith Master. "You knew my father was Kenobi, and yet, you let me track him down all over the galaxy!"
"I was hoping you would lead me to him," Darth Vader exhaled.
"Why, so you could kill him?"
"He made me like this; he took away my life,"
"Oh, well, welcome to reality, Anakin Skywalker," Mara snapped. Darth Vader held up a finger.
"Never say that name, again,"
"Okay, fine. Padm'e-"
"You just lost one-third of your little kingdom, Jade," Vader growled. Mara stopped. "You shall become Queen of Coruscant sooner than you think if you keep your mouth shut about such matters."
"Deal," Mara shook Vader's hand against his will. "Oh, by the way, your son is really hot."
"My son?"
"Yeah, he didn't die with his mom as you thought," Mara walked away. "Oh, and by the way, if you start calling me 'Mara Kenobi', I'll find a way to assassinate him as well."
"I see."
"Later, Vader,"
"Amusing."
"You think so?"
"No,"
"Fine," Mara turned. "I'm not afraid to assassinate a hot guy!" She shouted behind her as Vader was about to say 'Mara Kenobi'.

Hmmm.
Ok, before I start I wanna say I don't really know much about mara jade, but since I know some about sith apprentices I'll comment.
Ok, I looked over the story and it was pretty good. Only because the vast majority of it was good will I be pointing out what was bad.
The first plot failure was the fact that Mara has been sent out to kill at age ten. Sith apprentices where not allowed to set out on missions of any kind till passing an...exam (lets call it that). This exam included staying infront of a furnace for 3 days to forge the sycnthetic crystals used for sith lightsabers as well as many other physical and phycological tests.
The second is the amount of freedom and total lack of respect which mara is aloted. Most sith apprentices where beaten on a daily bases. Once again I don't really know what was going on at this time or with mara, but this seems really out of character for vader and palpatine.
Here's just a small thing. The five year old which mara wasted, I do belive her father was a force user correct? Her father was also relitivly close to her right? Well if he was ( correct me if I am mistaken here) shouldn't he have sensed the presence of a fellow force user (well sensed more than a bad feeling), especially one as gifted as mara.
And the last thing of stuff i didn't like was the fact that when mara told vader that she didn't find obi... couldn't he have sensed she was lying...just saying he's one of the most powerfull force users of all time and she's well....eleven. And wouldn't he wonder where she saw his son?
Ok here are a few thing that I loved: one was when varder said: "This is what happens when one chooses to love," Vader droned. "Attachment is a dangerous thing. You have done well, Mara Jade. You shall be rewarded."
I liked that alot, very nicely written
One other thing I really liked was the discription of mara jade's kill, that was nicely done. Mara started crawling towards Siri using the Force; clinging to the wall the way a spider stalks its prey.

Hey, The Infamous Blank! Thanks for posting! I really enjoyed reading your comments, good criticizm *pardon my horrible spelling* is hard to come by these days. Mara isn't exactly training to become a Sith Apprentice, henceforth, she is not treated as ... harshly. She is being trained to become a deadly assassin. BUT, at first, Vader and Palpatine underestimated her b/c she was brought up in a non-Force sensitive home. They knew who her father was, however, so they thought it might be very amusing to bring his daughter up as a mighty and powerful enemy. As you will soon see, this 'fic won't exactly stick to the facts. Uh, putting it a different way: it's not gonna be grounded by other SW facts. This is for fun. LOL. Thanks! C S

Chapter 5 Mara Jade - 8 B.B.Y. It has been two years since I've last written. Amazing, isn't it? My new mission is to assassinate the Jedi Grand Master; Mace Windu. He somehow survived the wrath of Darth Vader and Sidious combined. Even after 12 years, he is weak. The mission will be easy.
By the way, I've come up with an assassin code (for fun, of course): 1) Show No Mercy 2) Feel No Fear 3) Show No Sorrow 4) Allow 3 Last Words and most importantly 5) Don't Get Caught.
Number 4 is for kicks. *laughs* Naw, but seriously, it's fun to allow three last words. If they say 'Uhh' three times - BLAM! I know, it's cruel. But, hey, it's just one life.
I have established a reputation; and it's SO cool! I'll just walk (stalk) down the streets of Coruscant (actually, above them), allowing one or two people to catch a glimpse of me. Hehe, I gave one old lady a panic attack. That was funny, 'cause I laughed aloud, and people heard. I decided to let them all see me, and stepped forward. I have a shapely figure now, so I look like a grown woman from afar. "Beware the wrath of the Assassin of the Night; Dark Queen of Coruscant," I said in a deep voice. HA! Everyone, like, squeezed into the nearest building.
Darth Vader thinks my sense of humor is too large. He says it provokes goodness. However, Palpatine likes it. He says, 'Wouldn't you rather be killed by someone who had fun doing it?'
I don't consider myself evil. I look at it this way: I'm looking out for number one. And right now, number one's hungry. I'm off to find some food.
13 year old, Mara Kenobi Jade, walked into the kitchen. Sly Moore was sitting at a table, eating. Mara grabbed a plum. "And here I was, thinking you never eat." "What gave you that notion?" Sly asked dryly and without interest. "Well, the pale skin; the bald head; the weird eye color..," Mara trailed off. "It's all a bit strange, don't you think?" Sly said nothing. "OK, down to the point, what do you know about Mace Windu?"
Mara busted through Mace Windu's window with a soft crash, but not loud enough to wake him. She had learned from Darth Vader how to hit the window at an angle. She un-sheathed her red lightsaber and held it under his throat. "Wake up, old man." "Mara Jade," he said softly. "I knew you'd come." "What do you mean?" "The Empire feels threatened by a dying man," Mace chuckled. "They're going a little extreme." "Can't be too careful. But your Jedi friends don't know that. I feel inclined to inform you that Ferus Olin, Tara Narsil, Siri Olin, and Adi Gallia have all been killed," Mara leaned closer. "I only spared Obi-Wan because he's my father." "He is? Oh, I should have known. Your mother's name is Sab'e, isn't it?" "Yes," Mara's heart hardened. "You have three last words." Mace paused for a moment. "Don't disappoint him," he closed his eyes. Who? Mara wanted to ask. Get your head in the game, Mara. Kill him. Kill him! She ignited the lightsaber, then left. She looked back at the bed; there was nothing in it. Note to self: never let curiosity get the best of you.
"Mace Windu has been assassinated, my lord," Mara said proudly. Darth Vader chuckled. "Very good, Jade," he stated. "But killing an old man hardly counts." "He was who you ordered me to kill!" She exclaimed. "I'm not a child anymore, Vader. I kill anyone who gets in my way; I'm not afraid of anything. I don't have a weakness." Vader exhaled slowly. "We shall see."
"You have a call on line 3, my lady," Mara's security officer informed her as she walked into her headquarters. "Rout it to my office comlink, and if I catch anyone listening in on this call, you're dead," she growled. Her staff paled and nodded their understandment. They knew she kept her word. "Hello?" She asked, tossing down her gloves. "This is Mara Jade." "Hey, Mara, this is Luke Skywalker.""Luke?"
