Anakin & Tahiri (1): The Realization
Anakin Solo
I never dreamed that in a thousand years this could happen.
But it has, and now I feel like the luckiest man alive to even have her attention.
Let me explain: I fell in love with my best friend.
How? Maybe it all began when I first met her.
She was nine, and I was eleven. She came into the room and my breath almost left me.
She was (and still is) so beautiful. Her blonde hair was so wavy and curly in its own natural way that I thought there was a breeze in the room, focused only on that girl. Her eyes were a deep green , and they had a sparkle in them which I couldn't ignore. I could gaze into her eyes for an eternity. I was surprised when she walked up and introduced herself.
Tahiri Veila. I found her name in itself fascinating. From then on, we were inseparable. Tahiri claimed we were best friends, and I didn't complain. But thinking back, I think I longed to be something more.
Of course, I'm male, so it took me a while to figure out that I loved her.
When it first hit me, we were squeezed into a dark locker.
She was talking about how I still thought she was a child.
No, Tahiri, I thought. You couldn't be any more grown up or beautiful than you are in my eyes right now.
Then it hit me. I love her.
Of course, Tahiri couldn't hear my thoughts (although she can predict them pretty well), and I was too shy to voice them. I almost blurted 'I love you' in the locker, but can you imagine the reaction? I was 16, and she was 14. How could I even know what love was? But I knew, deep down, that his love wasn't your average crush. It would never fade away. So, what did I do?
Well, before I could change my mind, I kissed her, cutting her off mid-sentence. I pressed my lips to hers and held them there for a few seconds. When I pulled back, it wasn't far. Tahiri was surprised.
“What was that for?” She asked; I could tell she was smiling. So, I kissed her again, and this time, she kissed me back. “When we get home, we're going to have to figure this out.” She snuggled close to me. I put my arms around her, smiling broadly.
“Yeah,” I whispered. Usually, I would have been shy and pulled back, surprised at my audacity. But now, I was bold. I kissed her cheek. “Tahiri, I--” What was I thinking? I couldn't tell her now in here! “I care for you ... a lot.” Smooth. I could sense Tahiri looked up at me.
“How much?”
I was about to lean down and kiss her again, but Corran decided to come back. He opened the locker door just as Tahiri and I separated. I got out, and held out my hand to Tahiri. She accepted it, and gave me a fond smile. I grinned back.
“Should I have left you two alone?” Corran joked as he took in the parade of smiles.
The old Anakin would have blushed and looked away. I didn't. Instead, I kept holding Tahiri's hand and just grinned. “You can be the judge of that,” I said.
The next significant time I was tempted to tell Tahiri I loved her was when our close friend Lyric was killed by a voxyn. Tahiri's eyes filled with tears, and she let out a sorrowful sob. I took her hand and pulled her close. She sobbed into my shoulder, and I kissed her hair. I wanted to be respectful and mourn for Lyric's death, but all I could think about was the girl – no, woman- in my arms. I wished I could hold her there for an eternity. I tried to get myself to say those three little words, but it just wasn't happening.
Now, I am 17. Tahiri and I have decided that we both want to take our relationship to the next level, which would be going out in public. Early on in our relationship, we had both concluded that the first person we wanted to get intimate with would be our spouse, and that we (while unmarried) would stay away from that temptation. Tahiri was the one to bring it up, and I liked the way she put it. We will both honor it in our relationship.
So ... will I ever have the guts to tell her “I love you”?
Who knows.

Anakin and Tahiri (2): The Proposal
Anakin Solo
I am 22, and I still haven't told her.
She's waiting for me to say it, I know she is. The thing is ( and it took me a while to realize it) I'm afraid. I'm afraid of being in love alone. I want to tell her more than anything that I love her. I want to spend the rest of my life by her side.
Tahiri and I are going on another “Maybe” date to the beach tonight.
“Maybe” dates are exactly how they sound: “Maybe I can tell her tonight...”
Anakin held Tahiri's hand tenderly as they walked side by side on the beach. The sound of the crashing waves and the caws of the seagulls were always Tahiri's favorites. “Maybe it was growing up on Tatooine,” she said suddenly. “I had heard about the beach, but when I first saw one ... it was magical,” Anakin had been there the day she first saw a beach. He had thought it was magical, too. The way her blonde hair swirled; the way her deep green eyes sparkled; the way her loud, clear laugh echoed all the way down the beach... “You probably thought I was some sort of delinquent for running around like that.” Tahiri laughed. I love your laugh.
He squeezed her soft hand gently. “You received a couple strange looks that day, but none of them were from me,” She looked up into his eyes. I love your eyes; the way they light up as they meet mine. After a couple seconds, she looked out at the sea. Tahiri closed her eyes and breathed in deeply, enjoying the breeze that whisked her blonde hair around her face. I love your hair. Anakin's gaze never left Tahiri's face. Say it. She caught him looking at her and he blushed. Something he hadn't done in a long time.
“What?” She asked softly.
Anakin swallowed. “I care about you,” he almost cursed at himself out loud.
“How much?” Tahiri replied. She always asked that every time he said it. He always replied with a kiss. Not this time. He took her soft hands.
“I love you, Tahiri,” he whispered to her. “I love you with all my heart, and I've tried to tell you so many times.” His voice broke when he said 'with all my heart' because he realized this was true.
Tahiri's deep green eyes sparkled happily. “You know,” she grinned. “When something is stated three times, it's established forever.” She's giving me a chance to back away.
He shook his head slightly and leaned forward. “I love you. I love you. I love you.” For each declaration, Anakin kissed Tahiri on the lips tenderly.
Tahiri looked into Anakin's ice blue eyes. “I love you, Anakin Solo.”
He grinned. “You know, when something is stated three times, it is established forever.”
Tahiri linked her arms around Anakin's shoulders. “I love you. I love you. I love you.” I between each statement, she gave Anakin a big grin and kissed his cheek.
“Then will you do something for me?” His blue eyes pleaded with her to say yes.
“Anything,” Tahiri's blonde hair moved in waves as if an invisible force was stirring it, her emerald eyes were wide with wonder. Anakin knelt. She burst into silent tears, knowing what he was going to say next. Just then, the sky erupted in a sudden whirl of colors as it only could when the sun was setting.
“Will you marry me?” Anakin asked, his voice breaking again. Tahiri nodded in her happiness, and sank to the sand in a burst of new, happy tears. Anakin drew her close and she calmed down.
“Yes. Yes. Yes, Anakin, I will marry you,” Tahiri wiped her tears and smiled. “See? Now it's established forever. There's no going back.”
“I love you,” Anakin whispered intently.
“How much?” Her eyes twinkled playfully at him. He grinned and pressed his lips to hers passionately. She sighed in contentment.
Finally.

Anakin & Tahiri: The Wedding
Tahiri Veila
I am so excited.
In exactly 3 minutes, I will walk down the aisle and become Mrs. Tahiri Veila Solo.
Eight months ago, Anakin proposed to me on the beach – right at sunset.
Before that night, he hadn't even said 'I love you'. Now, he says it all the time.
Ooh! I can't wait. Mrs. Leia Solo and Anakin's sister (her daughter) Jaina Solo Fel are dressing me, as well as Tenel Ka Djo Chu'ume Solo, who is Anakin's brother Jacen's wife, Alema Rar, a good friend of Anakin and I {A/N: See, I'm trying to make peace with the character I hate the most! }, and Clarissa Veila, my younger sister {A/N: I'm pretty sure there's only one person who will find that significant. I sometimes consider myself as Tahiri Veila, btw.}. They won't let me see my reflection until I look “absolutely perfect”. Bah humbug.
The night that Anakin proposed to me, he asked me if I wished he'd had a ring to give me. I shrugged and said, “a promise was a promise, and though I like rings, I don't need one to remember that I'm promised to you”. The next night, he slipped a gorgeous diamond (with a blue tint) ring on my left finger and said, “Marry me. Marry me and grow old with me”. I, of course, said yes.
Clarissa says I can look in the mirror now...
Tahiri Veila opened her eyes. Her mouth dropped open and everyone laughed at her comical expression. Her blonde hair curled naturally in waves around her face, framing it underneath the transparent white veil. All throughout her hair were white flowers, and a headpiece made mostly of flowers held the veil in place. Tahiri thought her eyes had never ever been so green or so alive. Her make-up was perfect and natural. “I thought I was going to hate wearing make-up, but ... wow,” they all laughed. “Okay, I'm going to cry now.”
“Don't you dare,” Leia laughed. “I can't wait to see Anakin's face when he sees his beautiful bride.”
“Amen,” Tahiri let out a deep breath. “Do you think he'll like it?”
“He'll fall over,Veila,” Jaina teased.
“You look great, sis,” Clarissa grinned. “Now, let's go get in the shuttle!” She danced out of the room, as only she could, and started singing, “To the shuttle; to the wedding; down the aisle – there she goes!” Tahiri rolled her eyes, laughing, and followed her hyper sibling.
Anakin shifted on one foot, then switched to the other.
“Nervous”
“No. Excited, anxious, immensely happy; yes,” Anakin felt like bouncing up and down.
“You look like you're going to go wee-wee in your pants at any second,” Jacen teased. Anakin glared at him. “Hey, it's a joke! Laugh!”
“I only laugh at a joke when I find it amusing,”
“I see,”
“Anakin, your cue is coming up,” Han Solo said calmly, strutting into the room and plopping down in a chair. “So, whaddaya say? You ready to get married?”
“Yes,” Anakin answered confidently.
“You look like you have Restless Body Syndrome,” Han stated dryly. Anakin laughed.
“Sorry.”
“Uh-huh. Just do me one favor,”
“What's that?”
“Go to the bathroom now so you won't interrupt the vows,”
Anakin laughed again. “Okay.”
“OH, you laugh at HIS jokes,”
“'Cause his are humorous,” Anakin countered, ducking out of the room.
The music started and everyone stood.
Their eyes were glued on the opening door.
Anakin's eyes remained where he knew Tahiri would emerge.
When the door opened, he did nothing to hide the few tears that trickled down his face.
Walking towards him with steady confidence was the woman he loved with all his heart.
He had never seen her look as breathtaking and radiant as she did right then.
And she even had flowers in her hair; the way he'd imagined.
I've waited so long for this.
Their eyes met and he gave her a look that displayed his undying love for her.
“You're beautiful,” he mouthed. She winked at him. He grinned back.
When he took her hand, another thought settled in his mind.
You are well worth the wait, Tahiri Veila.
She squeezed his hand tenderly as they exchanged vows.
“I loved you from the beginning, and it took me many years to tell you how I felt. I promise to love; to honor, and to cherish you all the days of my life. Forever. For better or worse; for richer or for poorer; in sickness and in health. I, Anakin Solo, take Tahiri Veila as my lawfully wedded wife. As a token of my love, I present this ring,” Anakin slipped it on Tahiri's ring finger over her engagement ring, then kissed it three times. She grinned.
Early on in their engagement, the couple had decided to do the service independently. The minister was still there, of course, but they didn't want to be led through it. It made them feel as if they were following rules instead of promising themselves to each other.
“I can't say I loved you from the beginning, but I can say that I definitely love you now more than ever. I promise to love; to honor, and to cherish you for all the days of my life. Forever. For better or worse; for richer or for poorer; in sickness and in health. I, Tahiri Veila, take Anakin Solo as my lawfully wedded husband. As a token of my love, I present this ring.” Tahiri copied the style with which Anakin had given her her wedding band.
“I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride,” the minister backed away. Anakin lifted the veil slowly and gazed into the eyes of his new wife. Slowly, steadily, tenderly, Anakin slid both of his hands along her jawline and drew her closer. With all the tenderness and passion of over six years of waiting, Anakin kissed Tahiri. And this time, she -with equal tenderness and passion- kissed him back.
“I love you, my Angel,” Anakin whispered. “I will love you forever.”
“And I love you,” Tahiri replied, amazed that she wasn't crying in happiness. “Forever.”
“It is my great privilege and pleasure to introduce to you for the very first time, Mr. And Mrs. Anakin Solo.”
