What They Never Knew
Part one of the Prologue
He'd not seen Jaina Solo for nearly two years. Had it really been that long? Or was his mind
playing those cruel tricks once more? Nevertheless, her captured X-Wing had in the hangar bay.
Maybe he'd go pay her a visit. If she was willing to see him again. He had killed many students,
as well as almost her herself. Why would she even look at him?
Probably not.
Part 2 of the Prologue
"Fight me," Zekk said to Jaina.
"No."
She wasn't going along with any of his ideas for her freedom. So far she had turned down getting the academy to surrender. She wasn't willing to give the location either. Stubborn little Jedi.
"I'll say it once more, fight me."
"For what," she snapped back.
"For your freedom. Let's make a deal, ay? You fight me. You win, you go free. I win, you stay at the Shadow Academy as my apprentice. Deal?"
Jaina thought. She'd become an okay fighter, but better with ships. If she fought him, surley she'd lose. He was 45 centimeters taller, much heavier, and stronger than she was. Even with the Force, he'd win. Kriff these deals!
"Yes," she said.
A grin lit his face, giving back the Zekk she'd been friends with. He turned and with victorious steps, led her to the private sparring room. Once inside, he locked the door. She saw her lightsabre on his own belt, the smooth metal glistening in the brief light. He tossed it to her, igniting his own Blood sabre.
"Shall we begin?" he asked with tease in his voice.
"What are we waiting for?"
With that, he lunged at her, showering her in red and violet. She was nearly bent backward about to hit the floor when he stepped off of her. She closed her eyes, and then realizing they had to be opened, opened them. Zekk disappeared. The advantages were on his side. She needed them to be on her side.
He attacked again from behind, Jaina spinning to block. She kept her balance barely, rooting her feet to the floor. They spun away, as the lights suddenly went off. Only red and violet. Dead clues. But Zekk, turned off his blade.
Kriff, she thought. Advantages with him. Again. She turned about the room, bathign corners in the light, searching. Darkest Knight plus darkness plus advantages wtiht them; not a good thing.
Just as she turned in her 360, her sabre was knocked from her hand. He embraced her from behind, and brought his arm around her neck, the other her waist. Trapped. In the darkness, she vainly looked around for the sabre, until his grip tightened so she couldn't move.
No, she thought, he's not won yet. Not yet. Get him anywhere!
He msut ahve sensed her thoughts for he picked her up and slammed her into the floor. Pain shot through her. She'd landed on her back, hard. He pinned her to the floor with his hands, allowing her to struggle for hours. She was exhausted, but not willing to give in. Hours passed with her vain squrming which was getting her no where.
"Jaina, give up?" he asked. He knew the answer. She'd stopped moving and was catching her breath.
"Yes."
He got his hands off her, and she curled up into a ball in the floor. She was his apprentice now. She'd agreed on that deal with him. She silently sobbed, not getting up. Zekk kneeled beside her. He began to stroke her hair, and she mustered the strength to flinch away.
"Aw, now. It's only me, Jay."
Everything was still dark. She closed her eyes again. He grabbed her into his arms. They weren't warm like they used to be. They were cold and they were arms that had helped murder innocent. She said nothing, let his cold arms hold her.
He saw her face when he ignited his blade. Her face was innocent. So was her past. She was almost too innocent to be his apprentice. She'd never killed. He sensed more than innocence in her, he sensed her purity, too. Maybe if she were to be his apprentice, she have to lose one innocence or another.

Part 3 of the Prologue
Jaina tried to dry her tears and get out of Zekk's arms, but he wuoldn't let her.
"You owe me something, first," he said.
She gulped. "What?"
"Don't you remember the last time we were together, Jay?"
She did.
{{ Jaina slipped the bracelet onto her rist the same time as Zekk. It was her 14th birthday and she had wanted to for-play marry Zekk. It was a little joke because her mother had said she'd kill Jaina if she married the street kid. Both of them wanted to make Leia mad so decided to go to the ruins of a church and find a marriage certificate. Each had signed their names. Then he had shown her the matching braclets. Then he kissed her as all couples did. It was short, though but made her jump alittle.
"Mom will be mad," Jaina said when he slipped an arm around her shoulders as they walked out of the ruins. Then a pair of spotlights landed on them as people jumped from a hovering ship. They tried to run but they were caught. A fist met with Jaina's fist as she turned. She fell to the ground as a voice shouted, "Leave the girl. Take the boy."
Her eyes opened to Zekk pleaded down at her. She lifted an arm to him, even though the kidnappers snunned her.
And the last thing she'd heard before falling into the Darkness was Zekk.
"I love you," he shouted before he too was put out.}}
